Capturing Your Moments

My journey into photography started when I got my first camera. Actually, it was my father's camera but I took it upon myself to claim it as my own. It was a 110mm camera. Any chance I had to capture the world around me I did. And the first opportunity I had was on an 8th grade class trip to Washington, DC. I was so excited to take "my" camera and photograph everything that I could. I was standing in front of the Eternal Flame monument when I reached the end of the film roll. As I stood there, holding the rewind button on the camera, I heard the film winding, louder and louder, while my friends around me backed away, fearing the camera would self-destruct. It was an embarrassing few seconds but I was too happy to care. It was my very first roll of film and I couldn't wait to see the results.

From that day on, I continued to document my life through photography.

In this day and age, we sometimes fail to engage in the events happening right in front of us because we are too busy viewing it through a camera, or cell phone. As much as I agree with being present and in the moment, the photographer in me wants to preserve everything for eternity, and not just as a memory. When I look at the images I have taken over the years, I am instantly brought back to that time in my life and I always smile fondly. My hope is to continue capturing not only my life, but yours as well.

After everything is said and done, after all of life’s precious moments have come and gone, what we are left with are the memories. And the photographs.
